BIO

Brett is an award-winning editor and director with a BA in experimental film and video from Hampshire College. During her 20+ year career Brett has cut Super Bowl spots, music videos, shorts, web content, and the independent feature, Four Boxes.

Brett’s directorial debut, the Field Studies series, is a conceptual departure, yet deeply rooted in her editorial aesthetic that employs loops, rhythms, movement, and magic to explore the uniquely human quest for reverence and meaning. Winner of the Best Experimental Film Award at the Austin After Dark Film Festival Fall 2020, Field Studies: Dark Version has also been selected to screen at the San Francisco Dance Film Festival 2020 After Dark Shorts Program, the Oregon Short Film Festival, Indie Short Fest in Los Angeles, and the Rome Independent Prisma Awards.

Additionally, Brett publishes Conduit, the only magazine that risks annihilation, with her husband, the poet, William D. Waltz.

Brett is honored to have her work featured on Free the Work, an organization that champions the perspective and inclusion of female Directors, Editors, Colorists, Composers and DOPs in advertising.

Brett is now available for editorial and directorial projects at Channel Z in Minneapolis and Northern Lights in NYC.
